Domains at cost price
The domains at cost price promotion is our latest move to make domains more affordable for everyone and to strengthen European Internet sovereignty.
Background
The domain name industry is highly competitive and pricing is often the only distinguishing factor for customers. Profit margins are very low, and payment method fees take up a major part of any profit margin. Taking into account the payment method fees from transactions (such as fees from Visa/Mastercard payments), many providers actually end up selling domain names at a loss.
What we do
In our opinion, there are currently too few European providers offering affordable domain names. To encourage European customers to move their domains to a European registrar, we have introduced a payment method discount for bank transfers.
If you pay with SEPA bank transfer, we charge you our cost price. Because you pay with SEPA bank transfer, you a) support a local European payment method and b) we save on payment method fees. Because we save, you also save.
Questions and answers
At-cost pricing is available when we are an official directly accredited registrar of the extension/TLD. At-cost pricing is NOT available when we provide the extension through a third party partner registrar or directly from the registry (when there exists no registrar scheme for the TLD). It is also not available when the domain registrations require manual processing due to e.g. document requirements or for Premium domains.
Nowadays, with SEPA Instant Transfers, your payment can arrive with us in a matter of seconds. We fetch bank transaction data three times a day. This means that, on average, your payment is received and registered in a matter of hours. It is not slow, but it is also not immediate.
Just add your domain name to the shopping cart, and at checkout choose SEPA bank transfer as the payment method. The discount is applied automatically.
This is possible because domains are a highly automated service and we have other sources of income, such as domain parking and domain name auctions. We also sell other services, such as web hosting and Premium DNS.
All prices on this site are in euros and exclude VAT. If you are based in the EU, your local VAT rate is added at checkout.
